WORLD'S LARGEST EXODUS; THE ANNUAL WILDEBEEST MIGRATION

The rains are approaching, animals are starting to shift, the pride are now settling towards the Mara River Bank and the African Tropical air is getting tensed both with anxiety and fear you can even smell blood in the air.
This is one epic, magical, marvelous and indescribable  battle of the ages between top ranking African beasts that you can afford to miss. The Great Migration is the largest overland migration in the world. The animals travel a total of 800km or more during each cycle.gallery

In the green corner, traveling in millions and full of determination  and optimistic are the mighty wildebeests accompanied by their long time comrades the zebras and the galloping antelopes. Many calves get separated from their mothers when the herds panic (which happens frequently) or cross rivers or lakes in their path. Think they got a chance this year?

In the Red corner packed with pounds of muscles, bone and claws are the lions also accompanied by the "African Sahara flash"-the cheetahs and Africa's stealth killer the mysterious leopard and not forgetting the Africa's top scavengers the sneaky hyena and the ravenous vultures. All impatiently waiting for the heard to cross the Mara River.

Standing tall  on the blue corner are the world's top surviving creatures, with meat crunching jaws and teeth and packed with a tonne of equipped hunting skills are the undisputed crocodiles. Their hunting ground is the  water and this is where they come in the great wildebeest migration.
The crocodiles awaiting the herds in the Mara River drown their prey by clutching them in their strong jaws and pulling them below the water, twisting them to break off bite-size pieces. A crocodile can lunge more than half of its body length out of the water to grab a potential victim and can also use its tail as a secondary weapon.
There is no any other shortcut the wildebeests can use apart from crossing the Mara river. It is either do or die trying.

Kenya Beach Holidays.

KILIFI

Kenya’s little secret
Kilifi is a breath of fresh air. Halfway between Mombasa and Malindi on Kenya’s south coast, this unassuming market town has become something of a hideaway for expats and artists. Through the middle of town runs Kilifi Creek, a wide, bird-filled estuary, crossed only by ferry until the 420-metre bridge was completed in the Nineties. On its north bank is the town centre, while the Swahili village of Mnarani dominates the south.

The beaches
Bofa Beach, widely believed to be the finest beach in all of Kenya, runs northwards from the town centre. Its soft, power-white sands, fringed by nodding palm trees, go on for miles and miles, and its gentle, bath-warm waters are sheltered by a vast coral reef. Much more compact is Kilifi Beach, tucked inside the south side of the creek. It has a wide portfolio of water sports, plus a dive school, and is scattered with sun loungers and parasols that cast sundial-like shadows on the sand.
The town
Even by Kenya’s standards, Kilifi likes to take things nice and slow. The commercial activity is concentrated on the north side of the creek – the daily market, the banks and the bigger shops. On the south side, Kilifi Boatyard welcomes luxury yachts from all over the world. And set back from the shore is Mnarani, a traditional tribal village where you can learn about poetic traditions, shop for hand-made crafts and visit the bizarre 14th-century Swahili ruins.
The wildlife
Arabuko Sokoke National Park is just a 15-minute drive north of Kilifi. These lush, semi-tropical forests are criss-crossed by walking trails where mongoose, elephant shrew, and a huge number of bird species can be spotted through your binoculars. For more major sightings, Tsavo East National Park, Kenya’s largest safari park, is a few hours’ drive away. Home to the Big 5, there’s a good chance you’ll see lions stalking the prairies and elephants gathering at the watering holes in the dying light of day.
